NGS and EGerLink presented the ICONET project at Intermodal Europe in Hamburg

From the 5th to the 7th of November 2019 INTERMODAL Europe 2019 took place in Hamburg. INTERMODAL Europe is the annual event held in Europe on international intermodal logistics with more than 100 exhibitors and high profile presentations relevant to the international shipping and global container industry. At INTERMODAL Europe the world leading companies involved in intermodal logistics meet together to present new products and innovative services.

In parallel with the exposition, INTERMODAL Europe hosts a forum where experts from leading companies take the opportunity to discuss new market trends and innovative technology developments as well as new products and services. Presentations were held in two different areas, the Industry Theatre and the Innovation Theatre.

The ICONET project was presented as part of the “IoT and Smart Container Forum” held in the Innovation Theatre, moderated by Mr. Alan Robertson, Managing Director of Webster Robertson. The presentation was given by Mrs. Britta Balden from EGerLink and Mr. Alessandro Vaglini from NGS, both active members of the ICONET Project. During the presentation, “The ICONET Project: Overview of a First Implementation of Physical Internet”, Britta and Alessandro presented to the audience the Physical Internet concept, the ICONET Project, NGS contribution to ICONET Project and possible new business models and opportunities that can be developed on the grounds of the Physical Internet. During the presentation journalists from SUT Verlags and standardization experts amongst others were present in the audience.

Next year INTERMODAL Europe will take place from the 6th to the 8th of October 2020 in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.
